About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Sioux Falls, The Smoked Culture is the go-to destination for barbecue lovers and food adventurers alike. Specializing in an irresistible fusion of barbecue, sandwiches, burgers, and tacos, this restaurant brings a smoky, flavorful experience to the 3400 West 49th Street neighborhood that’s both comforting and exciting.

The menu at The Smoked Culture reads like a celebration of expertly smoked meats and creative flavors. Standout dishes such as the 2 Meat 2 Side Platter and the Bigspin Brisket Sammich offer a perfect balance of tender, smoky brisket paired with hearty, satisfying sides. Fans of bold combinations rave about the Pulled Pork Sammich—a harmonious blend of juicy pork, tangy pickled onions, creamy guacamole, and a zingy chipotle aioli on a toasted brioche bun that lingers delightfully on the palate. For those craving something a little different, the Spitfire Sammich and Brisket Tacos provide smoky heat and fresh bursts of flavor, while the Korean Burnt Ends and Flamin' Hot Street Corn add an inventive twist to traditional barbecue.

Beyond the main dishes, The Smoked Culture’s sides are just as noteworthy. The Cheesy Sour Cream Loaded Hash Browns with burnt brisket and corn are decadently rich and bursting with smoky goodness, a perfect foil to the lighter fare. Customers love pairing their meals with a cold craft beer or crisp cider, rounding out a truly satisfying dining experience.

The ambiance here is inviting and energetic, ideal for casual gatherings or lively solo dinners. According to loyal patrons, the restaurant balances a warm and friendly vibe with modern touches—such as well-maintained pinball machines—that give the space a playful edge. Whether you're savoring your meal indoors or enjoying the fresh air at one of the outdoor tables, the atmosphere feels relaxed yet vibrant, perfect for unwinding with friends or family.

One enthusiastic regular, Jayden Nimocks, highlights not just the delicious food but also the welcoming attitude of the staff, noting the enjoyable variety of three different barbecue sauces that guests can help themselves to. Meanwhile, Lindsey R. Peterson praises the thoughtful menu variety and the standout tacos, emphasizing the creamy mac & cheese and unique Korean-inspired dishes that keep customers coming back. The combination of tasty food, engaging ambiance, and friendly service truly makes The Smoked Culture an essential stop for locals and visitors craving an authentic barbecue experience.

Whether you’re seeking the smoky depths of slow-cooked brisket, the juicy punch of a perfectly crafted burger, or a vibrant twist on classic tacos, The Smoked Culture delivers with passion and precision. This isn’t just a meal—it’s a celebration of barbecue culture that leaves a lasting impression and a deep craving for more.

The staff were kind and helpful. The food was delicious and would love to come back. We ordered the brisket burrito and the 3 meat plate. You get to pick the meat, but I ordered brisket, chicken and pork belly. My favorite part was the 3 different kinds of bbq sauces, which you get to help yourself too. We sat outside, but there is indoor seating as well. They also have some pinball machines!

First time stopping in for lunch but have heard nothing but great things for over a year. Got their feature sandwich, smoked pulled pork with sprouts, pickled onions, guac and a kick of chipotle aioli on a toasted brioche bun. SO GOOD! great combination of flavors and would definitely order again. Need to come back with a bigger group to try more menu items.

Overall good! Atmosphere is cool. Video games to play and the food was good. Bbq sauces not great. Pulled pork good. Corn bread good. A place to go to for sure if you are in the area.

The Smoked Culture has officially taken over as our trivia location! Their food is fantastic and the menu has a good variety of items without it being too big to do well. Their tacos are delicious (esp the shrimp and pressure flip pork tacos) and their side game is very strong. Mac & cheese is creamy, the Korean inspired dishes are also great, cheesy hashbrowns (pictured) have great flavor, and I love the specials. Their service is also fantastic: kind, friendly, and helpful. I also love that they offer Pub Nerds Trivia and they even put the questions on the screen. Trivia is also decently quick and not super drawn out. If you haven’t, give the Smoked Culture a shot. They won’t disappoint!

Over the weekend my family did a Sioux Falls tour of pinball please. We had never heard of the smoked culture, but it popped up on Pinball Map. Of all of our stops, this one was the best. The pins look clean and well maintained. There’s a good mix of old and new machines, and the food was pretty good, too! We will for sure be back!

We like to try a new place every time we come to Sioux Falls. The Smoked Culture site popped up and we are glad it did. Ordered the Hatch green chili burrito. SO delicious. Great flavors and good sized portion. Smoked pork was spot on. Will visit again!

Ended up here by a happy little accident. The service was unbelievable. The second you opened the door to walk inside the gentleman at the counter, walked us through menu describe the food to us, an educated us about how it’s made. For the amount of food that we got, the prices are extremely fair! I should’ve thought about taking before photos, but this is all the leftovers that we are going home with! 10 out of 10 Recommend!!!
